Alignment

• Root the shins, ankles, and feet down into the floor.

• Scoop your tailbone under and pull the front of your pelvis upward.

• Engage your abdominal lock.

• Engage your lower body, making it very strong.

• Press your hips forward until the thighs are vertical.

• Lift your chest up high to the sky as you press down in your lower body.

• Drop your shoulder blades down your back.

If you can’t swallow comfortably in this pose, your neck is at risk. To ensure your neck is in a stable position, first pull your chin back into your neck, as though you were holding a pencil in the crease between your chin and neck. Then slowly lower your head back.
